FAQ - Tips and Routine for Bikini Shaving
Preparatory Step:
-
Hair Trimming: Use scissors or a trimmer to reduce hair length before starting shaving; this will make the process easier and reduce the risk of irritation.
-
Moisten Your Skin: Apply a warm towel to your legs to open pores and expose hair follicles, making shaving easier. Or simply take a warm/tepid shower (not too hot if you have strawberry skin/keratosis pilaris).
-
Exfoliation: Before starting, exfoliate with our Sugar Exfoliant, which is more suitable, or our Sisal Exfoliating Glove to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. This prevents hairs from getting trapped as they grow back.
Shaving Step:
-
Soap Application: Apply a thick layer of Solid Shaving Soap - Sesame Citrus
-
Shaving Direction:
-
Shave from top to bottom, following the direction of hair growth to avoid irritation, finishing with the sides if needed (right to left or left to right). Do not shave against the grain.
-
Then, gently shave the sides to catch all hairs, making sure to stretch the skin with your free hand for a smoother shave.
-
Shaving Technique:
-
Use short, controlled strokes, avoiding going over the same area multiple times to prevent irritation.
-
Shave very gently and consider testing on a small area first to avoid irritating reactions.
-
Make short, controlled movements, taking care not to press too hard to avoid cuts.
-
For a more precise shave, stretch the skin with your free hand.
-
Try to maintain a 30° angle.
-
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have mounted the razor correctly (see section 1).
After Shaving:
-
Soothing: Apply the Dry Oil - After Shave to soothe the skin and prevent irritation. Hydration is one of the key points of a good shaving routine. For the bikini area, we recommend oil rather than our balm.
-
Clothing: Avoid wearing tight clothing immediately after shaving to prevent irritation (if you are very sensitive to these issues, of course)
