FAQ - Tips and Routine for Shaving Your Armpits
Preparatory Step:
-
Hair Trimming: If the hair is long, start by cutting it to a manageable length to avoid irritation – using scissors or a trimmer.
-
Moisten Your Skin: Apply a warm towel to the armpits to open the pores and expose the hair follicles, making shaving easier or simply take a warm/tepid shower (not too hot if you have keratosis pilaris, as it dries out your skin).
-
Exfoliation: Before starting, exfoliate your armpits with our Sugar Pre-Shave Exfoliant which is better suited for sensitive areas or our Sisal Exfoliating Glove to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. This prevents hairs from getting trapped as they grow back.
Shaving Step:
-
Soap Application: Generously apply the Solid Shaving Soap - Sesame Citrus to facilitate shaving and protect the skin.
-
Shaving Direction: Shave from top to bottom, following the direction of hair growth to avoid irritation, finishing with the sides if needed (right to left or left to right). Do not shave against the grain.
-
Shaving Technique:
-
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have mounted the razor correctly (see section 1).
-
Use short, controlled strokes, being careful not to press too hard to avoid cuts,
-
For a more precise shave, stretch the skin with your free hand.
-
Shave gently to avoid irritation in this sensitive area.
-
Try to maintain a 30° angle
After Shaving:
-
Soothing & Hydration: Apply the Dry Oil - After Shave to soothe the skin and prevent irritation. Hydration is one of the key points of a good shaving routine. For armpits, if you are prone to ingrown hairs or irritation, you might try the oil; if you have more dryness issues or darker armpits, we recommend the balm instead.
For darker armpits, complement the balm with our exfoliant. -
Clothing: Avoid wearing tight clothing immediately after shaving to prevent irritation (if you are very sensitive to these issues, of course).
