Is the razor suitable for all areas?

Yes! With this, you can shave the bikini area, underarms, as well as all the so-called sensitive areas. BUT we won't lie to you, just like with a "classic" razor on these areas, you have to go gently. But you already know that haha.

What is the duration and price of the blades?

Let's take the example of Clarisse's shaving experience, the co-founder of Shavest, to help you understand the durability of our blades.

Generally, Clarisse shaves every 4 days (although sometimes she might wait a bit longer). She changes the blade after at least 2 months but would say more like 3 months (since she takes good care of it). For 1 pack of 20 blades (offered), she has enough to shave for 5 years (that's huge lol). But if you shave every day (which gives you 30 shaves per blade), you will have about 2 years of shaving! 2 years of shaving will cost you exactly €3.75 with the pack of 20 blades. But with the 100-blade pack that lasts you 10 years (or more), you will shave for €2.29 per year!!!

Let's imagine on Clarisse's scale, if she buys the 100-blade pack, she will use 4-5 blades per year, which means 20 years of shaving already purchased 😅 and for someone who shaves every day -> about 10 years. Nothing more economical & ecological 🥰

However, once again, depending on your usage and how you maintain your razor (never rinsing it...), you might need to change your blade more often. In general, if you feel the shave is becoming uncomfortable, you should change the blade.

I'm afraid of cutting myself with it, should I?

Many of you were afraid at first, but many told us that in the end, it was safer than a traditional razor.

Surprising, isn't it?

So, as its name suggests, it is a safety razor, which sounds scarier, but compared to other safety razors, we have worked to increase safety at the head level and thus reduce the number of cuts to zero. So unlike others, you will not cut yourself.

Can I use a safety razor without soap/foam/shaving oil?

Excellent question! We generally advise against shaving "dry" to avoid irritation and cuts, but rather to moisten your skin using soap. However, everyone sometimes wants to quickly shave certain parts of the body (I’m thinking especially of ankles in my case haha), and that’s not a problem.

Can the razor be used in the shower? Can I also leave it in there?

Our razors are specifically designed to resist water and especially rust (unlike some low-quality safety razors...). You can easily leave it in your shower but make sure to dry it well, but be careful depending on where you live, the water may have a high presence of limescale, so we recommend cleaning it a bit more often in that case (simply open the razor head, where the blade is, and rinse).

If you want to keep it for as long as possible, we recommend keeping it dry.

What is the difference with other safety razors?

Good question! You may have seen razors similar to ours for sale? But as you might guess, they have nothing to do with our razor.

Why?

• They are not made the same way and are not of the same quality. This causes them to rust and break very quickly. Shavest is a razor that lasts a lifetime!

• There is a higher chance of cutting yourself with other razors! We have worked to create a much safer razor head to achieve a number of cuts equal to 0. Yes, the legend of the safety razor that cuts every time is over.

How to shave with a safety razor?

Here are the steps to shave perfectly with the Shavest razor:

1. Moisten your skin with warm water, use an exfoliant (glove, scrub, etc.) to prevent hairs from growing back blocked (prevents ingrown hairs). Use a shaving soap, shaving oil, or any other product you are used to.

2. Check that the razor head is mounted the right way, like this:

See image

Important: Tighten the razor head well by holding it on the side so the blade cannot move.

3. Hold your razor at a 30/35 degree angle and shave with short strokes. This makes it easier to adjust the angle and control your razor.

Here is a video on our Instagram to see the angle to favor (a new one is in progress for more precision): https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cq2SijPNvYU/

4. Use little or no pressure; the weight of the razor will provide enough.

5. Be very careful around the knee, ankle, and back of the ankle areas. These areas are the most dangerous!

6. If your legs are warm and moist, you will avoid goosebumps and razor irritation.

7. The safety razor may require a bit more learning time than a "classic" razor, but it’s really worth it!

Where is it made?

As we work to make all our products 100% made in France wherever possible, we are proud that our solid soap, cold saponified, balm & exfoliant are handcrafted in France in Thonon les Bains and are 100% natural and plant-based, just like the dry oil!

The glove, for its part, is made respecting traditions and craftsmanship, in Turkey!

Regarding the razor, we are working to make its production French, which is honestly very complicated, but we have not lost hope; however, it is currently produced in Guangdong province under European standards.

Does the razor rust?

In 95% of cases, no (we explain the remaining 5%)! Thanks to the materials we use, our razor does not rust, and the same goes for the blades. It is specially designed to resist water, allowing you to use it worry-free in the shower. However, we always recommend rinsing it with cold water after each use and drying it. Why?

Depending on where you live, the water may contain a high concentration of limescale that could, over time, corrode even our razor (and this is true for all safety razors).

If you shave frequently, make it a habit to do this every time you change the blade, for example. It is important to disassemble the razor and rinse it thoroughly, then wipe it with a towel.

How to add the blade?

1. Hold the razor handle with one hand and turn the base with your other hand.
2. Unscrew the handle and remove the razor head.
3. Carefully place the blade between the two upper pieces, with the smooth, even side against the handle.
4. Reassemble everything by screwing the handle back on. The blade direction does not matter as it is the same on both sides.

A video is available on the product page of our razor!

Can you take the razor on the plane?

Yes, of course! But be careful, you will need to remove the front blade (when it comes to a carry-on suitcase).

Is the razor suitable for men?

Shavest is a brand that suits all genders, so you can use it for the body or face as a man!

Does the wooden razor resist water and humidity?

We assure you that the wood has been treated so it cannot mold when in contact with water and humidity. When we say it lasts a lifetime, it's true!

How to maintain your razor?

Even though our razor can last you a lifetime, it is important to take care of it to prolong its quality and maintain an incredible shave.

1. Clean regularly: After each use, rinse the razor under hot water. This helps remove hair, soap, and dead skin that can accumulate and block the blades.

2. Periodic disassembly: From time to time, carefully disassemble your razor for a deeper cleaning. Make sure to thoroughly rinse and dry each part before reassembling the razor.

3. Drying: Let the razor air dry in a dry, well-ventilated place to prevent bacteria buildup. Never store a wet razor in a closed space or toiletry bag.

4. Blade replacement: Replace the blade as soon as you notice it starting to dull. A dull blade can cause cuts and skin irritation. The frequency of blade changes depends on how often you shave and hair density, but generally, it should be replaced every 5 to 10 uses (turn the blade to the side you are not using, and you can use it for another 5 to 10 times).

5. Avoid harsh chemicals: Do not use harsh cleaners or chemicals on your safety razor. This could damage the material and make the razor unusable.

And that's about it!

Is your razor suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive ones?

Yes! It is even recommended for people with sensitive skin who often have problems with other razors. Since it has only one blade and usually only a few passes are needed, it is perfect for sensitive skin.

In addition to a good routine (exfoliation, shaving soap, aftershave oil), it will be your anti-sensitivity ally.

Are your products suitable for all skin types?

Whether your skin is atopic or just sensitive, our soap, oil, razor, glove, balm & exfoliant are suitable for everyone! Especially for those who have skin problems: blemishes, post-shave irritations, ingrown hairs/strawberry skin...

What is the difference between oil & balm?

The main difference between our dry oil and our moisturizing balm lies in their composition, texture, and functions.

Dry oil:

• Texture: Light, it is quickly absorbed by the skin.
• Composition: It is formulated with oils such as jojoba, rosehip, apricot kernel, and borage, which balance, heal, and nourish the skin.

• Use: Perfect for daily hydration, it penetrates quickly without leaving a greasy feeling. It is ideal for the underarms and bikini area thanks to its fast absorption, but it is just as suitable for the legs!
Its specific ingredients also make it suitable for preventing ingrown hairs, irritation, and itching, offering a solution for those experiencing these issues after shaving or waxing.

Moisturizing balm:• Texture: Richer and creamier than the dry oil.

• Composition: Based on shea butter, enriched with other butters and oils, for deep and soothing hydration.
• Use: Designed to provide intense hydration, it is ideal for very dry or irritated skin after shaving (such as crocodile skin, keratosis pilaris, etc.). It soothes your skin and regenerates it.

In conclusion, while our dry oil is ideal for light hydration and suitable for sensitive areas, our moisturizing balm offers more intense and soothing hydration.

Feel free to incorporate both into your routine to find what works best for you!

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes, of course. But obviously, it’s a razor, so no juggling, lol. With a safety razor, the key is not to apply pressure, as the weight of the razor is enough, and to maintain a good angle. Honestly, it’s very rare to cut yourself with it, especially now that we have reinforced the safety around the razor head.

What is a safety razor?

Safety razors have been forgotten in favor of disposable plastic razors (yes, the plastic industry seems economical at first but makes us buy the same product every week, month, year...).

They have existed much longer than these new razors with their moisturizing strips, and they are much better. Characterized by using only one stainless steel blade that you replace by unscrewing the razor head (more details in our videos), made from much more durable materials, these razors are made to last a lifetime.

Little known or still with prejudices: "you can cut yourself with it," "it's for men"... it offers the smoothest shave you can experience. Even more so thanks to the work we did at Shavest: we adapted the razor head so it can be used on the body (remember that the safety razor is old and was often adapted for men's faces...).

What is the difference between the exfoliating sisal glove and the raspberry exfoliant?

Sisal Glove: The sisal glove offers gentle and natural exfoliation like the sugar scrub, stimulating blood circulation while removing dead skin cells. It is perfect for regular care of the arms, legs, and the entire body. Its texture may feel harsh if you have sensitive skin. You need to moisten your skin before applying it.

Sugar-Based Exfoliant: this unique blend of sugar and moisturizing oils works in two steps. The sugar gently removes impurities, while the oils provide deep hydration. It is specially designed for areas that require particular attention, such as the bikini area. In addition to exfoliating, it prepares and protects the skin for the rest of the routine. Perfect if you have major shaving issues and are looking for very, very soft skin (although oil or balm will also do). For optimal results, apply the exfoliant on dry skin. Then rinse so it transforms into a milk (to be rinsed off) and enjoy all its benefits.

In short: both products guarantee gently exfoliated skin, but the sisal glove is ideal for quick exfoliation without any particular issues, while the sugar-based exfoliant is better suited for delicate areas and specific needs.
